Following their promotion to the top-flight last season, Davide Nicola was tasked with pushing Cremonese away from a relegation battle this season and they began this campaign very well but the hosts are now drifting.
The home team have now collected just one point from their last four matches over the festive period as they come into this one on the back of a slender 1-0 loss to struggling Fiorentina due to a last gasp winner scored by Moise Kean.
Cagliari preview: Steady Sardinians
Cagliari replaced Nicola with inexperienced manager Tommaso Giulini, with the expectation being that they evolve their style and become a little bit better to watch, and they have scored more than a goal per game so far this season.
The Sardinians do come into this one on the back of a hard-fought 1-0 loss at home to AC Milan at the Unipol Demus last weekend due to a 50th minute winner scored by Portugal international attacker Rafael Leao.

Ecuador international winger Jeremy Sarmiento is expected to depart Cremonese for parent club Brighton and Hove Albion but that hasn’t yet been officially confirmed at the time of writing.

Davide Nicola is a pragmatic coach.
