Casper Ruud vs Juan Manuel Cerundolo prediction
Casper Ruud marked his return from six weeks out due to a knee injury with a battling straight sets win over Dominic Stricker. Ruud went a break down in the first set but responded straight away with a break of his own, eventually winning the set 7-5. The second set went on serve, with Ruud edging a tight tiebreak after saving a set point. The three-time Grand Slam champion won 80% of his first serve points.
Juan Manuel Cerundolo will be his opponent in the last eight. He came from a set down to defeat David Goffin in the last round. The Argentinian went 3-1 up in the first set but was broken twice by the Belgian, who took the set 6-4. The second set went on serve until Cerundolo struck the crucial blow at 4-4 and served it out to square the match up. Goffin faded away in the third, with Cerundolo winning 4-6 6-4 6-1. It was an aggressive performance overall from the world number 109, who struck 44 winners.
Ruud is still getting back to speed after some time away, and may encounter problems against Cerundolo, who has six wins from his last seven matches following his final appearance in Braunschweig. We back the Norwegian to advance but it may not be all plain sailing.
