Caroline Dolehide vs Clara Tauson prediction
Caroline Dolehide made it three successive wins, including qualifying, after battling past McCartney Kessler in three sets. Dolehide could have wrapped up the match in straight sets, having gone a set and a break up, but Kessler fought back to take the second set in a tiebreak and force a decider. Dolehide regrouped well to win 7-6 5-7 6-3. An aggressive performance from the American saw her hammer 44 winners and win 79% of her first serve points.
She will now take on fourth seed Clara Tauson. Tauson received a bye in the first-round and has not featured on the tour since her fourth-round loss to eventual winner Iga Swiatek at Wimbledon. That was her best result at the All England Club so far. The Dane has enjoyed some very impressive results on hard courts this year, having reached the semi-finals in Linz, made the final in Dubai and won the Auckland Open at the start of the year.
Tauson leads the head-to-head 1-0, beating Dolehide in three sets in the first-round of the Miami Open last year. She will be viewed as the comfortable favourite in this one.
