Barbara Palicova competed in a WTA 125 event in Rome last week but lost in the first-round. Her best result of the season did come about just last month, as she made the final in Grado on the ITF Tour. Despite taking the second set, she was powerless to stop Tereza Valentova in the decider, losing 6-2 4-6 6-1. Palicova is yet to compete at a Grand Slam and the 21-year-old is currently ranked 179 in the world.
Priscilla Hon qualified for Wimbledon for the first time in her career at the end of last month, losing in the first-round to Ekaterina Alexandrova in straight sets. The 27-year-old will hope to have continued some of that momentum at the Porto Open but lost in round one to Mai Hontama. The Australian has picked up two ITF titles this season, already winning in this very capital on clay.
This may go to three sets, but Hon is the more consistent player, ranked higher in the world and has enjoyed more success this season. She’s good value to win.
