  • Yorkshire were cruising to victory on Saturday in Derbyshire but Critchley hit 22 off the final over from Bresnan to give the Falcons an unlikely win which makes it three defeats in a row against this opposition for the Vikings.

  • They will have to do without spinner Adil Rashid who has now left to join the England Test team and that sees Jack Brooks come into the 13-man squad while the likes of Bairstow and Root remain absent.

  • The middle order stalled a little on Saturday and they will look to lift themselves at home where they are typically strong, although they will likely stick with their preference of batting first despite it backfiring at the weekend.

DERBYSHIRE FALCONS

  • The Falcons are on a roll having won their last three matches after losing their first four, so confidence and morale is high in the camp and they will be buoyed by the fact they beat Yorkshire on Saturday.

  • The return to the side of Billy Godleman has coincided with their three-match winning run as the talented batsman has hit 157 runs in his three innings so far and that has reduced the burden on the likes of MacLeod and Madsen.

  • It was Rampaul’s turn to shine on Saturday as he took 4/19 which offered great support to Ferguson and Wahab Riaz, and the trio are now under 8 in terms of their economy rates, and they continue to keep their team in every match they play.

THE PREDICTION

Derbyshire are proving to be something of a bogey team for Yorkshire having beaten them in their last three T20 meetings. Further to that, but they are riding a three-match winning streak as their batting has improved with Godleman coming in and their bowling remains one of the best in the tournament. Yorkshire lose Rashid here, but at home one would still expect them to have too much firepower for the Falcons. This could be a high scoring game at Headingley and despite the form guide favouring the visitors, Yorkshire’s incredible batting power and depth should see them get the win here.
