Having finished inside the top 15 during his last three starts this year and not outside the top 25 here in his last four, the already two-time PGA Tour winner this season could be extending his lead at the top of the FedEx Cup rankings.
Patrick Cantlay
Fresh off a T9 finish at last week’s Masters where he looked like claiming the Green Jacket at one stage during the back-nine, the world number 21 will be heading to South Carolina with his confidence high. With an average finishing position of fifth from his previous two starts here, the young American will be looking to claim his second PGA Tour title. Ranked 10th SG: total shows his all-round game is in great shape as he heads to a course he knows how to contend around.
THE OUTSIDERS
Kevin Kisner
The recent WGC Match-Play winner heads to the RBC Heritage playing some of his most consistent golf, having recorded six top 25 finishes already this season. A native of South Carolina, Kisner will be looking to take advantage of his form around a course he has performed well on in the past having finished runner-up here in 2015 and achieved back-to-back top 15 finishes in 2017 and 2018. Ranked 195th SG: around-the-green suggests his short game will need improving this week if he is to have a real chance of winning, as the small greens will require him to be saving pars.
Bryson DeChambeau
The ‘Mad Scientist’s form in recent months has somewhat dropped after a spell spanning from June 2018 that saw him record four PGA Tour victories in a five-month span as well as another win on the European Tour at the start of 2019. Nevertheless, he appears to be on the brink of contending again after recording an opening round 66 at The Masters last week that put him atop the leader board, only to fizzle away during the week. A T3 finish here last year and T4 in 2016 shows this course matches his game and being ranked 8th in SG: driving will serve him well.
Webb Simpson
The former U.S. Open and 2018 Players Champion is continuing his rise back to the heights of his earlier career. A third round 64 at The Masters saw him finish just two off the leader to finish in T5, his best finish since November 2018. Having finished T11 here in 2017, the American followed this up with a T5 last year and is trending in the direction to claim his sixth PGA Tour victory around a course that suits his game well. Ranked 139th SG: off-the-tee is the only concern in a category that he normal excels in and will need to improve on in order to contend.
