THE TEAM NEWS
ROYAL CHALLENGERS BANGALORE
Coach: Gary Kirsten
Captain: Virat Kohli
- Royal Challengers Bangalore were eliminated from the race for the top four with their abandoned game against Rajasthan Royals last time out in a match they looked likely to lose anyway, so they will play for pride in front of their fans in their final match.
- Virat Kohli will be determined to end the tournament in style along with AB de Villiers but they will have to do without all-rounder Marcus Stoinis so that may hand an opportunity for Kiwi all-rounder Colin de Grandhomme to come into the side after a disappointing campaign so far.
- The rest of the team will likely be strong unless they decide to give some of their younger players an opportunity to get some experience which is possible even if they will be keen to win this match.
SUNRISERS HYDERABAD
Coach: Tom Moody
Captain: Kane Williamson
- With so many teams clustering around Sunrisers Hyderabad and that fourth place, they know they simply have to win this final match and maintain their good net run rate and that could be sufficient for them to finish fourth.
- They put in a valiant effort against Mumbai Indians when it looked likely they would fall short, but Manish Pandey produced the heroics to take it to a Super Over only to lose out eventually.
- With both Bairstow and Warner gone, they are hoping Martin Guptill can get up to speed quickly and they continue to over-rely on Manish Pandey who has been their only other significant contributor with the bat so far.
THE PREDICTION
The Sunrisers come into this match knowing that a win should give them an excellent chance of finishing fourth so all the pressure is on them here. Royal Challengers Bangalore have nothing but pride to play for but they are a dangerous team with Kohli and De Villiers keen to go out in style. The Sunrisers will need their bowling unit to lead them to victory otherwise their batting order really does need to improve. The likes of Rashid Khan may just be the decisive factor here, but do not rule out RCB enjoying themselves and springing an upset or at least pushing the Sunrisers all the way.
