  • The 20-year-old is ranked 22 in the world and reached the round of 16 last year where he lost to Rafael Nadal who went on to beat his opponent here in the semi-finals.
  • Shapovalov lost in four sets to Novak Djokovic in this year’s Australian Open and the left-hander can be a tricky foe for some of the best.

THE PREDICTION

Denis Shapovalov has the game to excite tennis fans with his unorthodox playing style and antics, with a one-handed backhand to match, and he looks to be a top ten contender in years to come. However, Novak Djokovic comes into the Italian Open off the back of an excellent win in Madrid and looks in great shape on clay this year. The Canadian could win a set, but not the tie.
