THE TEAM NEWS
BRAZIL
- Brazil opened their 2019 Copa America campaign with a comfortable victory over Bolivia as they laid down a marker for the rest of the competition and will be looking to back that up with a win over Venezuela.
- It took the Brazilians 50 minutes to break the deadlock when Philippe Coutinho converted from the penalty spot before he scored a second just three minutes later with Everton sealing the win with a goal five minutes from time.
- Roberto Firmino was tasked with leading the line in his side’s opener against Bolivia but after a gruelling club campaign with Liverpool that only ended with the Champions League final at the start of June, Gabriel Jesus may come into the starting XI in his place.
VENEZUELA
- Venezuela were left frustrated in their opening match of this year’s Copa America as they failed to find a breakthrough against Peru but will ultimately take the point after they were second best for large parts of the game.
- The point will have been welcome at the end as they were reduced to ten men with 15 minutes remaining and now face a tough test against hosts Brazil with the Venezuelans looking to avoid defeat.
- Luis Mago will sit out this clash after he received his marching orders for a second yellow card with Ronald Hernandez the favourite to deputise for in an unfamiliar position for the man usually deployed down the right.
THE PREDICTION
Brazil were comfortable winners over Bolivia in their opening match of the Copa America with them able to see off their opponents after eventually breaking the deadlock at the start of the second half. They now face a Venezuelan side that struggled against Peru and could be in for a long night here. They struggled to create chances and although they frustrated Peru, that might be a different story against the attacking prowess of the Brazilians on home soil with the hosts able to claim another win.
