Nadal survived a bruising third-round encounter with Karen Khachanov on Friday in which the Spaniard was forced to produce some of his best tennis to emerge victorious. Here he faces an opponent in Basilashvili who is enjoying the best year of his career but this is likely to be as far as the Georgian goes at the US Open.
These two met at the French Open last year and Nadal completely dominated in a 6-0, 6-1, 6-0 win. Basilashvili's game has improved since then so this should be a little more competitive than at Roland-Garros, but not enough to seriously trouble Nadal who should g come through in straight sets.
