THE TEAM NEWS
FRANCE
- France reached the final by overcoming Belgium narrowly in the semi-final and had Hugo Lloris to thank for some important saves.
- Matuidi came off after a heavy collision in that game but has trained normally and will be fit to take his place in central midfield.
-
It is almost certain that Didier Deschamps will name the same starting line-up which he has settled on in the last few matches.
Predicted line-up (4-3-3):
Lloris
Pavard, Varane, Umtiti, Hernandez
Kante, Pogba, Matuidi
Mbappe, Giroud, Griezmann
Unavailable: None
Doubtful: Mendy
CROATIA
- Croatia beat England 2-1 in the semis to reach the final but that was the third successive match that they played 120 minutes.
- Fatigue may be a factor especially for some of their older players in defence but their motivation should help overcome that here.
- Coach Zlatko Dalic will likely name the same starting eleven for this match which means Kramaric will be used as a second half substitute.
Predicted line-up (4-2-3-1):
Subasic
Vrsaljko, Vida, Lovren, Strinic
Rakitic, Brozovic
Perisic, Modric, Rebic
Mandzukic
Unavailable: N. Kalinic
Doubtful: None
THE PREDICTION
Croatia have reached their first ever major final and will be incredibly motivated for this. They are however coming up against the strongest team in the tournament and it is hard to imagine a tired and ageing Croatia defence being able to hold Mbappe and company for the full ninety minutes.
