Alexander Shevchenko vs Alexander Bublik prediction
Alexander Shevchenko brushed aside veteran and three-time Grand Slam champion Stan Wawrinka to advance at the Swiss Open Gstaad. He was always in control as he won 6-3 6-2, ending a three match losing run.
He goes up against compatriot Alexander Bublik. Bublik enjoyed one of the most impressive weeks of his career as he defeated world number Jannik Sinner and former US Open champion Daniil Medvedev to win the Halle Open for a second time last month. There was an expectation that he would go far at Wimbledon but he was on the end of a surprising loss to Jaume Munar in the first-round despite serving for the match at one point.
Bublik leads the head-to-head 1-0, beating Shevchenko in the quarter-finals of the Montpellier Open last year. This will be their first meeting on clay, but Bublik’s last tournament on the surface was a thoroughly successful one, as he became the first Kazakhstani male player to reach the quarter-finals of a Grand Slam after his fine display at Roland Garros.
Bublik should be refreshed after some time away and will be a clear favourite in this one.
Alexander Shevchenko vs Alexander Bublik tip: Alexander Bublik to win 2-0
