Ketlen Vieira: Can "Fenomeno" kickstart another run towards title contention?
A UFC competitor since 2017, Ketlen Vieira (15-4) is as battle-tested as they come in WMMA. The 34 year old Brazilian has fought a who's-who of female competition in the UFC, sharing the cage with the likes of Holly Holm, Miesha Tate, and Kayla Harrsion to date. However, despite starting her career at 10-0, a number of lengthy lay-offs, injuries, and some disappointing results have meant that Vieira has never managed the jump from perennial contender to title challenger. She is coming off a win over Macy Chiasson at featherweight in May, although it is worth noting that she missed weight for that contest.

Entering the cage on Saturday night for the first time in over a year, Norma Dumont (12-2) puts a five fight win streak on the line heading into this one. While the 35 year old Brazilian has yet to score a stoppage in the UFC, "The Immortal" has looked excellent in her most recent fights, most recently tuning up Irene Aldana in emphatic fashion for the biggest win of her career. She's undefeated since a decision defeat to Macy Chiasson in 2022, with her only professional loss outside of that performance coming via KO at the hands of Megan Anderson in her promotional debut.

While MMA math is notoriously unpredictable, there's a solid argument to be made that Vieira should win this one, despite her current status as a slight underdog.
The Brazilian is coming off a win over Macy Chiasson in May, the last woman to hand Dumont a loss inside the Octagon. She may have been dominated by current bantamweight queen Kayla Harrison immediately prior to that, but she still exhibited her grit and toughness by surviving to a decision against one of WMMA's premiere finishers.
By contrast, Dumont might be on a solid win streak but she's arguably squandered a lot of that momentum by sitting out with injuries for more than a year. As such, the odds are a lot closer than one might expect for a fighter who hasn't lost since 2022.
If Dumont looks like the fighter who split Irene Aldana's face in half last time out, she should take this one decisively. However, if ring rust plays a factor, there's a very conceivable outcome where Vieira just stinks this up by holding Dumont against the cage for three rounds. It could go either way, but the tentative pick is for Dumont to return with a bang and earn a decision victory.
