THE PREDICTION
Defending champion Lin Zhu is yet to drop a set this week in Hua Hin as she looks to make up ground for her poor efforts in Melbourne. The 30-year-old found the form of her career this time last season with a run to the round of 16 at the Australian Open ended in three tight sets by two-time former champion Victoria Azarenka but a first round exit two weeks ago was a drab way to return. World number 78 Yafan Wang made the third round in Melbourne with two excellent wins over Sorana Cirstea and a returning Emma Raducanu. 29-year-old Wang came back from a set down to oust Katie Volynets in a deciding tiebreak on Friday, backing-up a solid week so far in Hua Hin, but this should be her toughest challenge yet. The compatriots have met plenty of times on and off tour over the last decade with Wang edging their head-to-head 4-3 but back Zhu to earn at least a set as the just-about likelier to reach the final with the experience on this court.
