THE PREDICTION

World number 27 Sebastian Korda takes on number 29 Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in a super high-quality opening fixture at the Monte-Carlo Open. 24-year-old Davidovich Fokina reached the final here two years ago, finishing runner-up to Stefanos Tsitsipas, in his best run on tour but he has also reached the quarter-finals at Roland-Garros to prove his credentials on clay. 23-year-old Korda won his maiden ATP title at the Emilia-Romagna Open in 2021 on clay but he has reached six finals overall, with five defeats in hardcourt finals suggesting his best tennis comes elsewhere on tour. Both of these highly talented youngsters seem to have lost their way a little in recent years, despite brief flashes of the brilliance they both possess, to make this a really interesting, tough call on Tuesday. Back ADF to earn at least a set with the greater affinity for the conditions in Monte-Carlo or consider three sets to avoid a result.
