THE PREDICTION
World number 70 Luca Van Assche is the second seed at the Next Gen ATP Finals and he looked it on Tuesday with an ultimately commanding four-set win over Abedallah Shelbayh. The 19-year-old faces tougher tests in his next two matches, though, particularly in this first encounter with world number 110 Hamad Medjedovic, who overcame Alex Michelsen in five gruelling sets featuring four tiebreaks. 20-year-old Medjedovic is a highly touted rising Serbian star who recently stunned the likes of Laslo Djere and Jiri Lehecka en-route to the semi-finals of the Astana Open and he could have gone one further after missing out in three tiebreaks to eventual runner-up Sebastian Korda. Hardcourt conditions better-suit the Serb over Van Assche, whose best work has come on clay this season, but this should come very tight indeed. Take both players to win a set or Medjedovic to win at least two.
