31-year-old David Goffin is rising a four-match losing streak since a defeat in the quarter-finals of the Montpellier Open, of which he was defending champion, last month. The Belgian former world number seven’s form has been decreasing sharply for the best part of a year now but he is still capable of unlocking himself from the mire every now and then and two wins in the Davis Cup qualifiers last week will surely help his confidence. World number 78 Jordan Thompson looks the favourite here, though, based on recent form as the Aussie recently enjoyed a decent run to the quarter-finals of the Dallas Open. It has been difficult and largely unwise to predict Goffin’s matches for some time now but backing Thompson to win at least a set seems a reasonable alternative to picking a winner.
