World number 52 Daniel Altmaier lost to Corentin Moutet in qualifying on Sunday but eh could pose a real threat to the draw as a lucky loser, playing with house money on his favoured surface. The 25-year-old stunned Jannik Sinner at Roland-Garros last summer to prove his credentials in these conditions but consistency has always been his downfall. World number 22 Francisco Cerundolo has struggled to find any of his own this season, surprising after such an impressive 2023, but the Argentine has all the tools required to enjoy a deep run here in Monte-Carlo. The 25-year-old overcame Altmaier in three sets on clay at the Hamburg 500 two years ago but he is currently far from the peak of his powers. Back Altmaier to enjoy his second wind with at least a set to leave the victor up to chance.
