Former world number four Caroline Garcia played out a tight three-set match with Dayana Yastremska on Wednesday. The 28-year-old reached the semi-finals of the Lyon Open last week with some impressive wins over Camila Giorgi and Alison Van Uytvanck that put her at a working level of about top 30 at this moment in time. The current world number 66 won back-to-back Masters titles at the Wuhan Open and Beijing open in 2017.

Two of the more unpredictable players on tour right now meet for a first time here in what looks almost certain to be a coupon buster in any format. World number 13 Emma Raducanu has finished her last two matches injured, battling to the end against Danka Kovinic at the Australian Open with blisters but having to retire after three hours against Daria Saville in Mexico. The Brit is capable of anything here but Garcia’s form suggests she can win at least a set and that looks the most reasonable option. Do not be surprised if this match gets stopped early, though.
