26-year-old Alejandro Tabilo set a career-high ATP world ranking of 49th after a superb, shock run to the Auckland Classic title last month but he was edged out of the first round at the Australian Open by Aleksandar Kovacevic. A straight-sets victory over Yannick Hanfmann here on Tuesday was a solid way to start his clay swing but it remains to be seen how he fares over the coming months with a bigger target on his back as a title winner. World number 58 Dusan Lajovic is one of the more unpredictable players on tour as someone capable of much better tennis, especially on his favoured clay, than his current deflated ranking suggests. A brilliant straight-sets opener over eighth seed Arthur Fils on Tuesday is proof of that fact, as was his remarkable run to the Banja Luka Open title last spring - where he stunned Novak Djokovic and Andrey Rublev. Tabilo is a tough player to discern at present to make this first meeting a really tough call, so back Lajovic to earn at least a set to leave the victor up to chance.
