DANIELLE COLLINS VS KATERINA SINIAKOVA PREDICTION

30-year-old Danielle Collins moved back up to world number 12 after another excellent campaign on clay was ended by world number two Aryna Sabalenka, with last Thursday’s defeat to in the semi-finals in Rome backing-up a last 16 epic three-setter against the Belarussian in Madrid.

The American has played lights-out tennis everywhere since announcing that she will retire at the end of the season, winning her most prestigious trophy yet at the Miami Masters before claiming a second title on clay in Charleston, and she should be considered a serious contender this week alongside defending champion Elina Svitolina and top two seeds Marketa Vondrousova and Beatriz Haddad-Maia.

28-year-old Katerina Siniakova is just three places behind her career-high WTA world ranking of 31st after victory at the Lleida Challenger earlier this month. The 28-year-old won two of her now five WTA titles last season, on grass in Bad Homburg and hardcourts in Nanchang, but she is a solid all-court threat when she finds some rhythm.

The Czech’s straight-sets victory over in-form Yulia Putintseva on Monday is an eye-catching start to her Strasbourg campaign but Collins leads their head-to-head 2-1, having claimed her two wins within the past seven months, to look the reasonable favourite. Back Collins to win outright.
