THE PREDICTION
World number 27 Tomas Martin Etcheverry dropped the ball last week in Cordoba, suffering an avoidable defeat to Federico Coria in the quarter-finals, as he seeks a well-deserved maiden ATP title. The Argentine beat Roberto Carballes Baena in straight sets on Tuesday to get his Buenos Aires campaign underway well but he faces a much steeper quality of draw this week with defending champion Carlos Alcaraz and last season’s runner-up Cam Norrie in the mix. World number 80 Daniel Elahi Galan came back from a set down to upset an out-of-sorts Diego Schwartzman on Tuesday, backing-up a solid qualifying campaign, but in-form Etcheverry should have too much for the Colombian here. Etcheverry won their first tour-level encounter from a set down at the Kitzbuhel Open last summer and he can be backed to win outright again here, with a partisan crowd to draw on for support.
TIP: TOMAS MARTIN ETCHEVERRY TO WIN
