The world number 43 won the second WTA title of her career at the start of the season in a Melbourne warm-up tournament but her best campaign to date remains her stunning run to the semi-finals of Roland-Garros in 2019.

20-year-old Emma Navarro received a wildcard to the main draw at Indian Wells with a recent win on the ITF circuit in Florida taking her up to a career-high WTA world ranking of 200th.
THE PREDICTION
Two American youngsters face off here with vastly different experience under their belts. Former world number 21 Amanda Anisimova stormed onto the scene in 2019 with a first title at the Bogota Open and her brilliant run to the semi-finals of Roland-Garros and after a year or so in the wilderness she has started 2022 like a train. World number 200 Emma Navarro could get some early leverage in this first meeting with Anisimova yet to rediscover that form after her Australian Open campaign but realistically the world number 43 should be taking this in straight sets.
