THE PREDICTION

World number 19 Alex de Minaur is the fifth seed at the Los Cabos Open to show just how stacked the ATP 250 tournament is but he has been granted a kind draw so far, beating qualifier Skander Mansouri in straight sets on Tuesday ahead of this first meeting with world number 136 Thiago Agustin Tirante. 22-year-old Tirante enjoyed a run to the third round at the Italian Open back in May on his favoured clay but we have yet to see what he can do on a hardcourt at this level. The Argentine beat qualifier Gonzalo Lama in straight sets in the first round but De Minaur is ranked almost 400 places higher. De Minaur can blow hot and cold on tour but the Aussie is usually dependable at this level until he faces a true test. Take De Minaur to win in straight sets.
