20-year-old Hailey Baptiste received a wildcard to the main draw at Indian Wells. The American is up to a career high WTA world ranking of 119th after an excellent Australian Open debut where she upset Caroline Garcia in the first round.

Ajla Tomljanovic was clearly enjoying her tennis at Indian Wells last October in its rearranged spot on the tour calendar and she has drawn a winnable fixture to get her campaign going in this first meeting with Hailey Baptiste. The wildcard will be well-backed on home soil and she has already provided one upset this season at the Australian Open but Tomljanovic’s three-set defeat to Daria Kasatkina last time out puts her working level high enough to be backed for the outright win here.
