Taylor Townsend vs Elisabetta Cocciaretto prediction
Taylor Townsend may be targeting a good run in the doubles where her and partner Katerina Siniakova will be among the favourites but she will be hopeful of doing well in the singles also.
She came through three rounds of qualifying to get into the main draw here which is made all the more impressive considering that was her first tennis on the WTA Tour since Miami two months ago.
She faces a stern test in this first-round match however as she has been drawn against Italy’s Elisabetta Cocciaretto on Monday.
Cocciaretto has not been in the best of form of late but she can take some confidence from the fact she reached the fourth round last year at Roland Garros which represents her best ever performance at the French Open.
The 24-year-old is ranked at 82 in the world, higher than Townsend’s 106 but it is hard to see that reflected in their recent performances.
We marginally favour Cocciaretto but with no real confidence. Our preference in this one is on the game betting and we could easily see this going three sets so we favour the overs.
