Championship outfit Southampton will now be aiming to end Arsenal's hopes of the treble, after the possibility of the quadruple was ended a couple of weeks ago.

Southampton preview: Super Saints

Southampton come into this one on the back of some excellent form, which included a victory against Premier League side Fulham at Craven Cottage in the fourth round of the FA Cup last month.

The Saints are pushing themselves into the top six and the playoff places in the Championship, too, under the management of Tonda Eckert, unbeaten in their last 14 matches across all competitions.

Arsenal preview: Under pressure

Mikel Arteta and his Arsenal side blew a brilliant opportunity for silverware as they suffered a 2-0 loss to Manchester City at Wembley Stadium in the final of the EFL Cup a couple of weeks ago.

The Gunners are expected to claim the Premier League title, though as they return from the March international break sitting nine points clear of Manchester City at the top-of-the-table.

Southampton team news: Scienza still out

Summer signing Leo Scienza has been very impressive for Saints but the Brazilian attacking midfielder remains sidelined alongside compatriot Welington, as well as Mads Roerslev and Jay Robinson.

Predicted XI (3-4-1-2): Peretz; Bree, Harwood-Bellis, Stephens; Fellows, Downes, Charles, Manning; Azaz; Archer, Larin

Unavailable: Roerslev (Injured), Welington (Injured), Scienza (Injured), Robinson (Injured)

Questionable:

Arsenal team news: Several withdrawals

The likes of Eberechi Eze and Noni Madueke have picked up injuries but plenty of players withdrew over the international break with the expectation that they would be fit and available for this one, such as Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka, despite Thomas Tuchel suggesting the latter two are both genuinely injured.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Kepa; White, Timber, Mosquera, Lewis-Skelly; Norgaard, Rice; Saka, Havertz, Martinelli; Gyokeres

Unavailable: Merino (Injured), Eze (Injured)

Questionable: Saliba (Injured), Gabriel (Injured), Hincapie (Injured), Zubimendi (Injured), Rice (Injured), Odegaard (Injured), Madueke (Injured), Saka (Injured), Trossard (Injured)

Southampton vs Arsenal prediction

Arsenal are desperate for a trophy to try and finally get themselves over the line. Southampton are in excellent form and will believe they can, like arch-rivals Portsmouth in the third round, at least bloody the nose of the Premier League league leaders, albeit the Gunners do have to remain favourites in a clash that may not be overly straightforward at St Mary's.

Southampton vs Arsenal tip: Arsenal to win & both teams to score
