THE PREDICTION

Exeter got back to winning ways last weekend with a Simmonds try required to beat an improving Bath outfit. Last season’s runners-up have started poorly by their lofty standards with four defeats out of eight matches played and in the kinds of games they would be expected to win comfortably, like at home to London Irish or Newcastle Falcons. This home clash with big Premiership rivals Saracens should be a thriller that brings the best out of both sides but the hosts are far from comfortable favourites here. Travelling Saracens put a wasteful 34-34 draw with London Irish before the Autumn Nations Series behind them with a more solid 25-14 win at home to Sale last Sunday as they welcomed back a much-missed Billy Vunipola. In a must-watch clash of heavyweights the onus is on hosts Exeter to prove themselves proper contenders for this year’s play-off title. Take Sarries with a +2 head-start to prove otherwise.
