Two goalkeepers dominate the list, with Edwin van der Sar at the very top of it. The Dutch stopper made three UEFA Champions League final appearances for Manchester United at the age of 37 or older, with his last coming in 2011, making him the first and only player to ever play in UEFA Champions League final at 40 years old.
Of the 2024-25 UEFA Champions League finalists, Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan, the latter are represented on this list. Striker Edin Dzeko started in the Nerazzurri's last appearance in the showpiece European event back in 2023 when they were beaten by Man City, Dzeko's former club.
Also on the list more than once is Juventus and Italy legend Gianluigi Buffon, who appeared between the posts for Juve in three finals, all of which they lost. Two of those appearances were made whilst goalkeeper Buffon was 37 or older, with his last coming at age 39 in 2017.
