THE TEAM NEWS

PARRAMATTA EELS

  • Parramatta Eels suffered golden point heartbreak in their season opener with Melbourne Storm as they succumbed to a Harry Grant try in the additional period.
  • The Eels competed well in the game and will be content with their effort but need to produce more quality in the opposition 20. For this week’s contest, there is just one change with Sean Russell replacing Isaac Lumelume on the wing.

Starting 13: Gutherson, Sivo, Penisini, Blake, Russell, D. Brown, Moses, Campbell-Gillard, Hodgson, Paulo, Cartwright, Doorey, Hopgood – Interchanges: Momoisea, Murchie, Greig, Makatoa – Reserves: Arthur, Simonsson, Ogden, Rodwell, Dunster

Unavailable: Shaun Lane (Injured), Ryan Matterson (Suspended)

CRONULLA SHARKS

  • Cronulla Sharks were outplayed by South Sydney Rabbitohs in round 1 and will need to improve if they are to get off the mark for the season as they come up against Parramatta Eels.
  • The Sharks missed the injured Nicho Hynes and he will be absent once again while Wade Graham has copped a four-game ban which will result in changes in the pack, although Royce Hunt’s return from elbow issue is a timely one.

Starting 13: Kennedy, Katoa, Ramien, Talakai, Mulitalo, Moylan, Trindall, Rudolf, Brailey, Hamlin-Uele, Nikora, Wilton, Finucane – Interchanges: McInnes, Hunt, Kaufusi, Tracey – Reserves: Hazelton, Hiroti, Bradbury, Berrell, Puru

Unavailable: Kade Dykes (Injured), Matt Ikuvalu (Injured), Nicho Hynes (Injured), Wade Graham (Suspended), Jack Williams (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

Parramatta Eels were unfortunate to lose out to Melbourne Storm in a high-quality season opener last week and will aim to put that disappointment behind them as they take on Cronulla Sharks. Parra tend to be tough to beat on home soil which showed last week as they pushed Melbourne Storm all the way, only going down to defeat in golden point. Cronulla Sharks were below the standards that they set last season in their loss to South Sydney Rabbitohs and while they too will be looking to bounce back here, their have a couple of key outs and this looks set to be a third successive loss on the road against the Eels.
