THE TEAM NEWS

MANLY SEA EAGLES

  • Manly Sea Eagles were narrowly beaten by South Sydney Rabbitohs in a golden point thriller in what was their first defeat of the campaign.
  • Despite the loss, the Sea Eagles showed that they can mix it with the best in the NRL and will be right in the hunt for a top four spot this year. They have been forced into one change for this game with Tolutau Koula out with a knee injury so Morgan Harper will make his first appearance of the year.

Starting 13: T. Trbojevic, Tuipulotu, Parker, Harper, Garrick, Schuster, Cherry-Evans, Paseka, Croker, J. Trbojevic, Olakau’atu, Tuilagi, Aloiai – Interchanges: Weekes, B. Trbojevic, Bullemor, Keppie – Reserves: Sipley, Johns, Tuaimalo Vaega, Lawton, Fainu

Unavailable: Jason Saab (Injured), Toluca Koula (Injured)

NEWCASTLE KNIGHTS

  • Newcastle Knights produced a strong performance, especially in the second half, as they secured the win over Canberra Raiders last week.
  • That was the second victory of the season for the Knights but they will once again be forced into changes here with Kurt Mann suffering from a head knock so Jack Johns is named at lock.

Starting 13: Miller, Hunt, Gagai, Best, Marzhew, Gamble, Hastings, D. Saifiti, Brailey, Thompson, Frizell, Fitzgibbon, Johns – Interchanges: Crossland, Hetherington, Croker, Jones – Reserves: Lucas, Tuala, Young, Sasagi, Cant

Unavailable: Adam Elliott (Injured), Jacob Saifiti (Suspended), Kalyn Ponga (Injured), Kurt Mann (Injured), Adam Clune (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

Manly Sea Eagles were left frustrated as they were beaten for the first time under new boss Anthony Seibold. They will be confident of bouncing straight back here after they were edged in golden point against South Sydney Rabbitohs but there was plenty to like about their effort last week. Newcastle Knights will hope to build on a solid outing against Canberra Raiders in which they secured their second win of the season but Manly have won both of their home matches so far this year and they should be too good here.
