- New Zealand Warriors were right in the game at half-time of last week’s clash with Sydney Roosters but an underwhelming second half display saw them fall away as they suffered their second loss of the campaign.
- Despite trailing by just four at the break, the Warriors were kept scoreless in the second period as the Roosters ran out 32-12 winners which came on the back of struggling for yardage with the Tricolours managing to run for almost 600 metres more than the Warriors.
MANLY SEA EAGLES
Starting 13: Walker, Saab, Parker, Harper, Garrick, Foran, Cherry-Evans, Paseka, Croker, Taupau, Gosiewski, Schuster, J. Trbojevic – Interchanges: Cust, Sipley, Keppie, Aloiai – Reserves: Funa, Saddler, Tuipulotu, B. Trbojevic
Unavailable: Tom Trbojevic (Injured), Jorge Taufua (Injured), Manase Fainu (Suspended), Haumole Olakau’atu (Injured), Curtis Sironen (Injured), Andrew Davey (Injured), Moses Suli (Injured), Morgan Boyle (Injured)
- It was yet another hammering for Manly Sea Eagles as they shipped 46 points in a huge loss to Penrith Panthers last week and that 40-point defeat was the biggest losing margin that Manly have ever suffered on home soil.
- Through four games, the Sea Eagles are conceding an average of 39 points per game which is an alarming figure while just as worrying is their lack of threat with the ball having averaged 8.5 points per game so far this season.
THE PREDICTION
Manly Sea Eagles have made a dreadful start to the NRL campaign and last week’s humiliating loss to Penrith Panthers saw them set an unwanted record. They have looked poor on both sides of the ball so far this season and New Zealand Warriors will look to capitalise on their woes as they too look to bounce back from a defeat. They were outclassed by Sydney Roosters last week and now have numerous injuries to deal with which has forced a reshuffle in the pack. Both teams have their injury issues but the Warriors look more equipped to deal with them and they can condemn Manly to yet another defeat here.
