Roma preview: Roman ruins

This week has been dominated by club director Claudio Ranieri coming out and publicly criticising the appointment of Gian Piero Gasperini, with the former Atalanta boss having been under pressure within the fan base of late.

However, they do come into this one on the back of a much-needed 3-0 hammering of a poor Pisa side at the Stadio Olimpico last weekend, courtesy of a hat-trick scored by Netherlands international attacker Donyell Malen.

Atalanta preview: Improved Bergamasci

Atalanta initially struggled after the departure of Gasperini and the appointment of former Southampton boss Ivan Juric, but they have been much-improved since the appointment of Raffaele Palladino, a tactical disciple of Gasperini.

The Bergamasci were dealt a blow in their unlikely hopes for a top four finish last week, though, as Juventus defeated them by a goal to nil, courtesy of a 48th minute winner scored by versatile attacker Jeremie Boga.

Roma team news: Lots of injuries

Roma have some fresh injuries as Nicolo Pisilli is now a doubt with Lorenzo Pellegrini a confirmed absentee, while the key attackers such as Paulo Dybala, Evan Ferguson and Artem Dovbyk remain sidelined.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Svilar; Ghilardi, Ndicka, Mario Hermoso; Celik, Cristante, El Aynaoui, Rensch; Matias Soule, Vaz; Malen

Unavailable: Pellegrini (Injured), Dybala (Injured), Ferguson (Injured), Dovbyk (Injured)

Questionable: Mancini (Injured), Wesley (Injured), Pisilli (Injured), Kone (Injured)

Atalanta team news: Couple of doubts

Atalanta are dealing with a couple of doubts for this weekend as Sweden international defender Isak Hien is potentially sidelined alongside versatile attacker Kamaldeen Sulemana.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Carnesecchi; Scalvini, Djimsiti, Kolasinac; Zappacosta, De Roon, Ederson, Bernasconi; De Ketelaere, Zalewski; Krstovic

Unavailable:

Questionable: Hien (Injured), Sulemana (Injured)

Roma vs Atalanta prediction

Up against his former club, Gasperini will want to be able to use that to push Roma towards the top four and get some of his own back on the bizarrely provocative comments of Ranieri. Atalanta head to the capital city in reasonable form despite their recent loss and so this could end up being quite a fun watch for the neutral with both teams scoring seemingly a good bet for this one at the Olimpico.

Roma vs Atalanta tip: Both teams to score
