- The Bruins made it three games in a row scoring five goals or more as they produced a brilliant third period to take the game away from the Senators after the scored had been tied at 2-2 at the end of the second.
- David Backes is doubtful for this contest after he was involved in an awful collision with Scott Sabourin in the game against the Senators and the Bruins forward is expected to sit out his team’s next few matches due to an upper body injury.
THE PREDICTION
Boston Bruins have the second-best active winning streak in the NHL at present with five consecutive victories. They will face a tough test against Pittsburgh Penguins who will arrive at TD Garden with a 3-2-0 record on the road. Although the Bruins have been in great goalscoring form of late, it is their defensive record that stands out having conceded the fewest goals out of any team in the NHL so far this season and that can help them extend their winning streak here.
