THE PREDICTION

Confidence is high within the Shakhtar Donetsk squad after they pulled off one of the most impressive results in this season’s Champions League group stage so far, by thrashing RB Leipzig 1-4 in Germany. They’ll no doubt fancy their chances of further success against Celtic, who in contrast were beaten 0-3 by Real Madrid. However, it could have easily been a different story for the Scottish champions, who fashioned a number of golden opportunities to score which they did not take. Manager Ange Postecoglou isn’t expected to change the way he sets his team out to play, so expected Celtic to try and take the game to Shakhtar as they did for large periods of time against the European champions. This should lead to an entertaining battle, especially if Celtic can show more cutting edge in front of goal. Shakhtar’s offensive qualities were clear for all to see vs RB Leipzig and regardless of who comes out on top here, backing over 2.5 goals scored across 90 minutes has to be favoured.
