RB Leipzig’s 1-4 defeat at the hands of Shakhtar Donetsk in their first group fixture saw the removal of Domenico Tedesco as head coach. The Bundesliga side’s hierarchy acted quickly to appoint Marco Rose as head coach and the decision immediately reaped rewards as Rose masterminded a brilliant 3-0 victory over his former club Borussia Dortmund at the weekend. Leipzig now turn their attention back to European action as they travel to Champions League holders Real Madrid, who overcame Celtic 0-3 in their opening game of the group. Although the Spanish giants are expected to dominate and dictate play, injury to star striker Karim Benzema could pose it’s challenge for ‘Los Blancos’ in front of goal and the pressure is on Rodrygo to fill that void. The young Brazilian will have taken confidence from scoring at the weekend in La Liga in Real Madrid’s win over Mallorca and should play a key part in the hosts coming out on top here over Leipzig.
