Sevilla sit four points above the bottom three after 13 matches with just three victories in 20 matches across all competitions so far this season.

Since the appointment of former Valencia and Olympique de Marseille boss, Marcelino, Villarreal have enjoyed three successive victories in three different competitions. The Yellow Submarine had been languishing down in La Liga, which is where they remain, but they will be expecting to push up towards the top seven again now.
Marcelino’s reign began with an unconvincing and hard-fought 2-1 defeat of Zamora in the Copa del Rey before Jose Luis Morales fired a hat-trick to defeat Osasuna by three goals to one last weekend. It appears very likely that Diego Alonso will be losing his job as Sevilla manager quite soon as the Andalusians look set for another relegation battle. Just one win and that win coming against sixth-tier opposition leaves the Uruguayan in a precarious position. Villarreal, given their new found form, will go to the south with a lot of confidence and it is difficult to see a way in which this Sevilla beat a Marcelino-coached opposition.
