THE LOWDOWN

CADIZ

In January, Cadiz sacked manager Sergio and replaced him with former Southampton boss Mauricio Pellegrino. The Andalusians have been improved since his arrival and they have given themselves some hope of survival, albeit that hope is small with three games to go and sitting six points adrift ahead of this weekend.

The home team come into this one on the back of a dip in form, though, having collected just one point from their last four matches. They most recently suffered a 3-0 hammering at the hands of champions Real Madrid up at the Bernabeu last weekend with goals scored by Joselu, Jude Bellingham and Brahim Diaz.

GETAFE

Under the management of Jose Bordalas, who is in his second stint in charge, Getafe have been a lot more entertaining to watch this season but their 34 matches so far this season have consisted of just 88 goals. The Madrid-based club begin the match day sitting tucked inside the top-half of the table in La Liga.

Their most recent outing saw them beaten 2-0 by Athletic Club at the Coliseum with a brace scored by Inaki Williams before both centre-backs, Yeray Alvarez and Aitor Paredes, sent off after that. That result means that Getafe have now managed just one victory in their last five matches since defeating Girona in mid-March.

THE TEAM NEWS

CADIZ

Darwin Machis is a doubt for this weekend, whilst the likes of Luis Hernandez, Jorge Mere and Rominigue Kouame are among those sidelined by injury.

PREDICTED XI (4-5-1): Ledesma; Zaldua, Chust, Fali, J. Hernandez; Navarro, Escalante, Ruben Alcaraz, Alex, Sobrino; Ramos

UNAVAILABLE: Mere (Injured), Mari (Injured), Kouame (Injured), L. Hernandez (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Machis (Injured), Ousou (Injured)

GETAFE

Domingos Duarte is likely to still be unavailable for this weekend alongside both Juan Iglesias and former Real Madrid and Roma forward Borja Mayoral.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Soria; Carmona, Djene, Alderete, Rico; Maksimovic, Milla; Greenwood, Moriba, Rodriguez; Mata

UNAVAILABLE: Iglesias (Injured), Mayoral (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Duarte (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

In the last decade and a half or so, smaller teams in Spain’s top-flight have tried to replicate the success of Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid by playing a fairly reductive style of football with the coined term of ‘Cholismo’ after Simeone’s nickname, ‘El Cholo’. Both of these teams have been in that group and both have had relative success in emulating it, despite it definitely going against the grain for Cadiz. What that means when they both face each other, it is unlikely to be very entertaining for the neutral observer.
