THE LOWDOWN

TORINO

The tenure of Ivan Juric at Torino has often flattered to deceive with the former Hellas Verona coach implementing a generally impressive style of football but their fluency in general play has been let down by a lack of efficiency in front of goal; often leading to being an extremely tedious team to watch, as has been the case this season.

In their opening eight matches of the 2023/24 Serie A campaign, Torino have managed to score just six goals in eight matches, conceding just nine in those games too. Their two victories so far this season have come against a badly struggling Salernitana side as well as requiring a 94th minute winner to defeat newly-promoted Genoa.

INTER MILAN

After winning the title in 2021, Internazionale relinquished that to city rivals Milan in 2022 and then finished third in 2023. The Nerazzurri, after winning the Coppa Italia and reaching the UEFA Champions League final last season, are expected to challenge for the title once again, under the management of Simone Inzaghi.

It had been an excellent start to the campaign for the visitors with five successive victories but they fell to a surprise 1-0 defeat at home to Sassuolo in late September. Since then, they have also dropped points at home to Bologna, meaning they begin this weekend sitting a couple of points behind AC Milan at the top-of-the-table.

THE PREDICTION

A four-match winless run of form is not something unrepresentative of Torino’s general form, which has been below par throughout the campaign. Their performances are often frustrating to watch and the Turin-based outfit now face a tough test against an Inter side that have suffered just one defeat in their opening ten matches across all competitions. Whilst a draw with Bologna at San Siro was frustrating, Inter remain overwhelming favourites to get back on track with a victory in this one.

TIP: INTER MILAN TO WIN
