THE LOWDOWN

SASSUOLO

Former Empoli coach Alessio Dionisi is consistently coming under pressure at Sassuolo but he eased the immediate pressure with a vital and thrilling 4-3 victory over his former side in Florence, last weekend. Sassuolo required a 92nd minute winner from Domenico Berardi and remain firmly in the bottom-half of the Serie A table.

They have won four games so far this season with two of those coming in the space of four days in mid-September when they inflicted Internazionale and then Juventus’ first and only defeats of the season thus far. Their proactive and attacking style, as is the want of Sassuolo, has seen 40 goals come in their 13 games.

ROMA

Jose Mourinho’s third season in charge of Roma has not quite gone the way it was expected to with an implosion; especially with a major improvement as the season has gone on. The capital city club begin the weekend sitting tucked inside the top five and just three points behind defending champions Napoli in fourth place.

The visitors come into this one on the back of a 1-1 draw with Servette in the group stages of the UEFA Europa League in midweek. They have been quite, strangely, entertaining to watch, too, with only two teams, Internazionale and Napoli, who have scored more than the 25 that Roma have notched so far this season.

THE TEAM NEWS

SASSUOLO

Agustin Alvarez is unavailable for this weekend, whilst midfielder Pedro Obiang is a doubt for the visit of Roma on Sunday afternoon.

THE PREDICTION

As mentioned, Alessio Dionisi is keen on an attacking style of football and Sassuolo have benefitted from playing against the strongest teams in the league – which Roma will find themselves in the category of. The hosts, therefore, are expected to be on the front foot and proactive against the Romans, whilst the visitors, with their aforementioned goal scoring exploits, should take advantage of Sassuolo’s leaky defence. An entertaining away win would appear the likely outcome for this one.

BETTING TIP: ROMA TO WIN & BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE
