THE LOWDOWN
LECCE
Roberto D’Aversa’s Lecce have had an up and down season so far. They began the campaign quite strongly but have since drifted down the table and sit a few points and places above the bottom three and the relegation places. They come into this on the back of a 2-2 draw against Hellas Verona after the November international break.
That was their second successive 2-2 draw after sharing the same scoreline with AC Milan a few weeks ago. They are now winless in their last nine matches across all competitions but they have remained quite entertaining to watch with 15 goals scored the most of any team in the bottom-half of the table.
BOLOGNA
Under the impressive and progressive management of former AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain midfielder, Thiago Motta, Bologna are competing for a top seven finish and potential European qualification. They begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting in the top six and just three points off the top four.
The home team come into this on the back of a comfortable 2-0 defeat of Torino last weekend, in their most recent outing, as they return from the November international break, with goals coming from Giovanni Fabbian and Joshua Zirkzee. They have suffered just two defeats so far this season; at home to AC Milan on the opening day and then away to Fiorentina a few weeks ago.

THE PREDICTION
A nine-match winless run of form has Lecce looking over their shoulder and they will be a bit concerned about being dragged into the bottom three; especially with improvements being made by the likes of Cagliari, Salernitana and Udinese. Bologna have been one of the most difficult teams to beat under Thiago Motta and they will be confident of continuing their fine season with a victory down in the south of Italy this weekend.
BETTING TIP: BOLOGNA TO WIN
