THE LOWDOWN
JUVENTUS
Massimiliano Allegri’s second stint in charge of Juventus had appeared destined to be an underwhelming and short one. However, with chaos off the field, The Old Lady have returned to their old habits of grinding out victories as they head into one of the biggest matches of the season anywhere in European football.
Juve, prior to the international break, edged past a struggling Cagliari by two goals to one and that, a typical Allegri-style Juve win, was their fifth successive victory in Serie A with just one defeat in their opening 12 matches. They have remained typically frustrating to watch for the neutral, though, with just 19 goals scored in those games.
INTER MILAN
Under the management of Simone Inzaghi, Internazionale have performed excellently well in the 2023/24 Serie A season, sitting at the top-of-the-table ahead of this match day. The visitors come into this one on the back of a comfortable 2-0 defeat of Frosinone before the break, extending their current winning streak to six matches in all competitions.
They have suffered just one defeat in their 16 matches so far this season in Serie and the UEFA Champions League – and they have achieved that feat playing an easy on the eye, effective and pulsating style of football. In their opening 12 matches of the Serie A campaign, they have scored 29 goals and conceded just six.
THE TEAM NEWS
JUVENTUS
Juventus have the suspensions of Nicolo Fagioli and Paul Pogba, as well as injuries to the likes of Timothy Weah, Manuel Locatelli and Mattia De Sciglio to deal with.
PREDICTED XI (3-4-3): Szczesny; Gatti, Bremer, Rugani; Cambiaso, McKennie, Miretti, Kostic; Chiesa, Kean, Vlahovic

Internazionale have two key injury concerns, Benjamin Pavard and Alessandro Bastoni, whilst former Juventus player Juan Cuadrado is a doubt, too.
PREDICTED XI (3-5-2): Sommer; Darmian, Acerbi, de Vrij; Dumfries, Barella, Calhanoglu, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco; Thuram, Martinez
UNAVAILABLE: Bastoni (Injured), Pavard (Injured)
QUESTIONABLE: Cuadrado (Injured)
THE PREDICTION
The Derby d’Italia is one of the most eagerly anticipated games and rivalries in European football and it could be potentially defining and decisive for this season’s title race. Internazionale sit two points clear of their old rivals so a Juventus victory in Turin would move Juve back to the summit of Italian football. What is clear and very much expected, though, is a classic and typical low-scoring, cagey encounter between the two best defensive records in the league with the two teams combining for just 13 goals conceded so far this season.
