It was a fairly bizarre and surprising decision in the summer when Frosinone decided to part company with Fabio Grosso and replace him with former Roma boss Eusebio Di Francesco. The plan was to put in a more entertaining style of football having gained promotion last season but they are very much trying to evolve it to be a little more defensive to avoid the drop.
Their goalless draw with Empoli last weekend was their fourth clean sheet in five Serie A matches, which is fairly remarkable when considering they still have the third worst defensive record in the league. Their five-match unbeaten run of form has helped them move outside of the bottom three and the relegation places.
INTER MILAN
It has been quite an astonishing season for Internazionale in Serie A. Simone Inzaghi’s Nerazzurri were crowned Italian champions for a 20th time a couple of weeks ago to secure a second star upon their badge but they head into the final three matches of the 2023/24 campaign now without the possibility of finishing as centurions.
That is because they suffered their second defeat of the Serie A season last weekend and, quite bizarrely, it involved relegation-threatened Sassuolo completing the double over them. After losing to the strugglers in mid-September, Armand Lauriente’s 20th minute winner was enough to secure another vital victory against Italy’s dominant force.

So, playing a more proactive and front foot style of football has not really helped Frosinone throughout the campaign, despite it providing some entertainment. Since the so-called battening down of the hatches in the last few weeks, they have been much more effective. Without anything to play for now for Inter, there is a chance they simply drift to the end of the season with players turning their attention to major international tournaments instead. A low-scoring affair, therefore, would appear a decent bet.
