THE LOWDOWN
FROSINONE
Under the management of former Roma boss Eusebio Di Francesco, Frosinone are enjoying an impressive return to top-flight action. The Roman club are sitting firmly in the middle-of-the-table but did suffer from a decline in their form before the break, losing three of their previous four matches.
They come into this one on the back of a 2-0 loss to league leaders and seemingly champions-elect Internazionale a couple of weeks ago. Frosinone have conceded 20 goals in their 12 matches so far this season, following promotion, and only four teams have managed to concede more than ‘The Canaries’.
GENOA
Genoa, coached by former Italy striker and 2006 FIFA World Cup winner Alberto Gilardino, sit below Frosinone in the Serie A table but only by a point and a place ahead of this weekend’s round of fixtures. They, in contrast to Frosinone, enjoyed a mini up turn in form before the break with two wins in their last three matches.
The visitors edged past Hellas Verona by a goal to nil a couple of weeks ago with a bit of an injury crisis in attack. Summer signings Junior Messias and Mateo Retegui remain out injured, with the likes of Ruslan Malinovskiy and Caleb Ekuban also suffering from minor issues throughout the 2023/24 season so far.

GENOA
Genoa have several injury concerns, most notably in attack, with the likes of Junior Messias and big money signing Mateo Retegui out injured.
PREDICTED XI (3-5-2): Martinez; Dragusin, Bani, Vasquez; Sabelli, Frendrup, Badelj, Strootman, Haps; Ekuban, Gudmundsson
UNAVAILABLE: Retegui (Injured), Jagiello (Injured), Messias (Injured)

THE PREDICTION
These two teams gained promotion alongside each other last season and began the campaign as two of the main favourites to be heading straight back down to Serie B. However, both sides have proactive and front foot managers in the dugout and that ambition on the pitch, matched by some impressive dealings off it, mean they are likely to take advantage of some real strugglers this year, such as Hellas Verona and Salernitana. This one could be quite a care free and entertaining encounter in the capital.
