THE LOWDOWN

HOFFENHEIM

You have to go back to October 28th for the last time that Hoffenheim tasted victory in all competitions. Since then, it has been disappointment for them, knocked out of the DFB-Pokal by Borussia Dortmund and winless in the Bundesliga since that 2-3 triumph away at Stuttgart.

Most recently, the hosts were beaten by Borussia Monchengladbach in disappointing fashion, losing 2-1 in the end. After coming from behind through Wout Weghorst on the hour mark, they conceded what ultimately proved to be the winner with ten minutes to go.

BOCHUM

Bochum have risen up the table in recent weeks following a very impressive unbeaten run, which has extended to five league games since their hard-fought 2-1 loss at the hands of Freiburg. Most recently they defeated Wolfsburg 3-1 at home, which has taken them up to 12th-place in the table with a good opportunity to push towards the top half.

After leading Wolfsburg 2-1 at half-time, Bochum showed excellent composure and game-management in the second half, eventually wrapping up the three points with a couple of minutes remaining in normal time.

THE TEAM NEWS

HOFFENHEIM

Defender Kevin Akpoguma is suspended for Hoffenheim, so the likes of John Brooks and Stanley Nsoki could be in line to play. Dennis Geiger is out through injury, as is Marco John and Mergim Berisha.

PREDICTED XI (3-4-1-2): Baumann; Vogt, Brooks, Nsoki; Kaderabek, Promel, Stach, Skov; Kramaric; Weghorst, Beier

BOCHUM

Bochum remain without a number of players through injury and will also miss Kevin Schlotterbeck for this game, as he is suspended. The likes of Esser, Ordets and Tolba all won’t feature and neither will forward Lys Mousset.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Riemann; Gamboa, Masovic, Bernardo, Soares; Osterhage, Losilla; Bero, Stoger, Asano; Hofmann

UNAVAILABLE: Esser (Injured), Mousset (Injured), Ordets (Injured), Schlotterbeck (Suspended), Tolba (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

This is a big opportunity for Bochum on the road to extend their unbeaten league run when taking into account Hoffenheim’s recent form in comparison. Expect the visitors to frustrate Pellegrino Matarazzo’s side and look to hit them on the counter-attack. Confidence could drop from the Hoffenheim the longer they fail to make a breakthrough and a shrewd move here is to utilise the double chance market, backing Bochum to either draw or win.

BETTING TIP: DOUBLE CHANCE – DRAW/BOCHUM
