THE LOWDOWN

FREIBURG

Freiburg’s latest defeat in the German top flight came away to Borussia Dortmund. They were never able to cope with the attacking firepower of the hosts and ended up on the wrong end of a 3-0 scoreline, their third league defeat in a row. This now leaves them four points adrift of the top six ahead of this latest contest.

Christian Streich’s side were in action again this past Thursday in the Europa League, drawing 0-0 against Lens in France. It will take a big ask from the players both physically and mentally to get themselves in the right frame of mind for this fixture with such a short turnaround.

EINTRACHT FRANKFURT

Eintracht Frankfurt have picked up just one victory since that shock 0-1 away to RB Leipzig in mid-January. Five games have passed in all competitions since then, with Dino Toppmoller’s side drawing three times, losing once at the hands of FC Cologne and winning just once against lowly Mainz.

Centre-back Robin Koch is suspended and Larsson is missing through injury but aside from that, Toppmoller has a strong group of players available for selection here. They’ll need to be at their best though if they are to end a run of three matches in all competitions without a win.

THE PREDICTION

The pressure is on Freiburg in front of their own supporters having lost their last three in the Bundesliga to turn things round, so expect them to try and satisfy and expectant home crowd by pushing bodies forward whenever possible, taking the game to Eintracht. But the visitors are a canny outfit and should use this to their advantage at times, especially when it comes to the counter attack. This match is a tough one to call, but both teams to score does look on the cards.

TIP: BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE
