Former Sunderland player Eric Roy is coming under pressure at Stade Brest after their fast start to the season has soon turned and they plummet down the table. They went on a five-match winless run of form in Ligue 1, including three successive victories, before a vital win against Montpellier last weekend.
Brest took an early lead before being begged back and then nudging themselves back ahead mid-way through the second-half and then clinching all three points in stoppage-time. Coached by Pascal Gastien, Clermont have consistently overperformed their expectations but this time around looks a step too far as they dangle down at the bottom end of the Ligue 1 table. The home team come into this on the back of sharing a 1-1 draw in midweek in their rearranged clash with Montpellier.
That leaves them with just two victories in their opening 13 matches of the season and sitting two points behind Toulouse in 15th place ahead of this weekend’s round of fixtures. They have been relatively steady and slightly improved of late, though, with just one defeat in their last four matches.
