- After a long World Cup break working with his new squad, former Luton Town boss Nathan Jones is all set for his first home Premier League game as Southampton manager following defeat away at Anfield in his first match in charge last month.
- Belgian midfielder Romeo Lavia is unlikely to be passed fit in time for this game, which would be a blow for the Saints as he has been a bright spark in what has been a very poor season so far.
BRIGHTON
- It’s been anything but boring for Brighton since the appointment of Roberto De Zerbi to replace Graham Potter, who left for Chelsea with the Seagulls improving their output in front of goal, but at the cost of significant defensive stability.

Southampton are in need of quick points and could benefit from a ‘new manager bounce’ in the form of Nathan Jones, so expect them to come out of the blocks flying here. Attack has been a cause of concern for them, but against a Brighton side who have not had such issues going forward, but have conceded twice in each of their last three league games, Southampton could profit.
