THE LOWDOWN

SOUTHAMPTON

  • In classic Ralph Hasenhuttl style, he got a win out of his side when he needed it the most with the Saints squeezing past Bournemouth on Wednesday courtesy of a Che Adams header early in the first half.
  • Kyle Walker-Peters faces a significant spell on the sidelines with a hamstring injury picked up in the midweek fixture so Hasenhuttl has a key decision to make regarding who deputises at right-back.

ARSENAL

  • With Arsenal’s victory at Leeds last weekend coupled with Man City slipping up at Liverpool, the Gunners have opened up a four-point lead at the top of the table and their midweek Europa League victory over PSV took them to eight consecutive wins in all competitions – their best run for over four years.
  • Oleksandr Zinchenko remains a doubt while Bukayo Saka picked up a knock against PSV, although Mikel Arteta was confident that the England international will shake it off ahead of this fixture.

THE PREDICTION

Despite many onlookers expecting them to slip up at some point, Arsenal are yet to show any real signs of weakness with eight successive wins in all competitions testament to the confidence in the camp. There is a very real possibility that they will be leading the Premier League table heading into the World Cup and that will be Arteta’s short-term aim right now, with this trip to the south coast looking very winnable for them. Southampton may have recorded a rot-stopping win against Bournemouth in their midweek fixture, but this impressive Arsenal side are expected to continue their good form and pick up another three points.

TIP: ARSENAL TO WIN
