THE LOWDOWN

BRENTFORD

  • Brentford’s 0-2 win at West Ham last time out extended their unbeaten run in the Premier League to five games, which is their longest such streak in the top division of English football since 1939.
  • Despite being stretchered off against the Hammers, the news around Ivan Toney’s injury has been positive and there is even a chance he will make the starting line-up here.

LIVERPOOL

  • Liverpool had Wout Faes to thank in their last match with the Leicester centre-back scoring two own goals to give Jurgen Klopp’s men their fourth consecutive Premier League victory.
  • The game may come too soon for new signing Cody Gakpo while Jurgen Klopp will consider making a few changes to his XI given the tight turnaround in games, with the returning Ibrahima Konate poised to replace Joel Matip in central defence.

THE TEAM NEWS

LIVERPOOL

PREDICTED XI (4-3-3): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Keita, Fabinho, Thiago; Salah, Darwin, Carvalho

QUESTIONABLE: Robertson (Injured), Milner (Injured), Elliott (Injured), Jones (Injured), Firmino (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

Both teams come into this fixture off the back of a decent run of results so, with confidence high in both camps, this promises to be an entertaining game of football. For Brentford, much will depend on whether key striker Ivan Toney recovers in time to feature, as he has been causing havoc among Premier League defences this season. The Bees are capable of getting on the scoresheet either way though, and with four of their last five Premier League games seeing both teams score, as well as Liverpool’s last five league fixtures, both teams scoring looks likely here.

TIP: BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE
